Radiofrequency Ablation Treatment at JPRC
Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is a minimally invasive treatment, one of several types of ablation therapy, where surgery is not a good option. You may experience bouts of pain that last only a few seconds or minutes.
A series of attacks can last days, weeks, or months, followed by periods of remission. The condition can progress, with attacks increasing in severity and frequency. In some cases, the pain or ache becomes constant.
RFA may or may not be performed under mild sedation. If sedation is used, the patient is usually kept awake and conscious to an extent to be able to describe what they feel during the stimulation and lesioning of the nerve
