Blazing sky - Canada
This picture doesn't do justice to the fiery sky in Kananaskis country in the Canadian Rockies. It seemed like the entire atmosphere might erupt into flames any moment, which was appropriate, since the upper air was full of sooty particles from an enormous forest fire in a nearby part of the Rockies, and the morning sun was reflecting off of those bits. Six years later we visited Marble Canyon in Kootenay National Park - the site of the devastating fire - and saplings covered the ground, but it will be a long time before it looks like a forest again.
