Haley's diagnosis of FPIES came relatively late (she was already more than two-and-a-half-years-old) and the frequent inflammation and reactions she had the first couple years of her life caused significant damage to her gastrointestinal system. Because of this, Haley also suffers from gastroparesis and gastroesophageal reflux disease, causing frequent and noticeable discomfort for her.
