The Road to Heaven is Paved With Gold (Explore #1, December 10th. Thanks very much!)
There is more to Death Valley than the usual iconic spots (and with 2,000+ miles of dirt roads in the park, I suspect there's much more than any of us realize). Jim Patterson found this amazing spring while we were scouting for our 2011 photography workshop in the park and it has quickly become one of my favorite locations in DV. The waters of the spring curve gracefully in a myriad of channels, allowing for compositions in any direction, and the shallowness and stillness of the channels lead to fantastic reflections. On this particular night we enjoyed one heckuva gorgeous sunset and it sure was a heavenly place to be.
