Father and Son
Tonight I invited my parents over for dinner to celebrate my dad's birthday. I'd been thinking about doing this shot for a few weeks, so while he was here, I got a few shots of him, and had him take a few of me. While reviewing the shots I realized that I had to get rid of my beard for this to work, so I quickly trimmed it off with my clipper. The combining was done in Photoshop using a single layer mask. I used a color balance adjustment layer to get our skin tones to match better, and a hue/saturation layer to bring the saturation down a bit and add a little warmth. Some very minor warping done to get the chin to line up, but aside from that, very little in the way of manipulation.
I lit the setup with 2 bare 400ws strobes on either side and behind for rim lighting. I used a single bare 150ws strobe as an overhead fill light. Everything triggered with pocket wizards. Getting the lights positioned and dialed in just right is what took the longest.
