Security Breach at the Buffalo Airport
Taken in the Buffalo airport, on our way home from Toronto a couple weeks ago.

Because of the merging of two security lines, Evonne was 2 or 3 people ahead of me going through the metal detector. When she got through, she gathered her things and waited for me. I was literally the next person about to pass through the metal detector when the TSA guards stopped letting people through the security lines, without explanation. After a couple minutes, they told us a mistake had been made and assured us that flights were being held. (Luckily, Evonne and I had over two hours until our departure, so I wasn't too worried.) During the wait of roughly 30 minutes, I was able to overhear the guards saying that somebody had gone into the secure area via the exit, and that they double-checked a video tape to confirm that it had happened. Once it was confirmed, they told us that they were going to have to clear the entire terminal and recheck everybody. I protested, "What about my wife?!?," pointing at her sitting on the other side of the checkpoint. Thanks to my protestations, they let her and a couple other folks who hadn't left the end of the checkpoint stay inside the secure area without being rechecked. This photo was taken in the opposite end of the airport from our gate. After clearing everybody out of the terminal they searched one half of the terminal, then opened it to passengers while they searched the other half. This was taken while we waited for them to search the half that our gate was on. Once we got home, I looked up a news story with the full coverage of what happened. It's actually a little disturbing--TSA didn't even notice the breach until the person involved told someone!
