La noche en blanco, also nknown as Nuit blanche or White Night in different parts of the world, is an annual night-time festival that turns the city center of Granada into an unusual scenery for performances, themed guided tours, and all kinds of activities. Museums, art galleries, churches, and a number of monuments that are usually off-limits or of highly restricted access to the public are open until midnight and even later for the occasion.
The bell tower of the church of San Miguel Bajo, on the upper part of the hill where the Albaicín quarter stands, was one of the attractions open that night where not many locals –myself included- or visitors have ever been. The view of the harvest moon rising over San Nicolás that only a few of us could enjoy from the extremely constricted space on top of the tower will surely keep a special place in our memories for a long time.
