Grayslake Piggly Wiggly - Exterior

I have been coming here for as long as I can remember. When I was little, we would usually go here, Jewel-Osco in Round Lake Beach, and a local store at Lake and Center Street called Jerry's Parkway. Parkway closed sometime around 2000, I think, and we stopped shopping at the store that replaced it after multiple instances of buying moldy bread. The meat person we knew from Parkway relocated to Pig, so we went here most of the time.

 

Jewel-Osco finally opened a store just down Atkinson in 2000, but didn't seem to really affect Pig's business -- as Jewel's prices have, historically, always been higher.
