"5-25-77" Pinto

Here's one particular example that may be borderline-legendary in these parts... seen here at the Gurnee Nostalgia McDonald's way back in 2008. Don't ask me how I forgot to upload this, and I think several other shots from that cruise night.

This Pinto sees major screentime in the upcoming flick, "5-25-77" (briefly known as just '77 until recently); which centers around the release of Star Wars, and features several historic places around Lake County, IL including Lakehurst Mall, Warren Township High, Great America, the Genesee Theatre, and others. Unfortunately, the film has been in post-production hell for many years now, but the anticipation for its release has generated a wildly-devoted fanbase.

Recently, efforts to get the film finished finally took off again this year; which brings us back to this 75 Ford Pinto. The owner and writer/director of 5-25-77, Patrick Read Johnson, departed from the Genesee Theatre back in August on a cross-country road trip; driving this car, and making many stops for test screenings to raise awareness and secure the last necessary funds to get the film finished and in theaters.

At the time of writing, the car is currently said to be in California, surviving major brake problems and a recent hit to the oil pan along the way. During which, it has also been the subject of a documentary on the making and completion of 5-25-77, and the associated road-trip. Most-recent updates seem to be posted on their Facebook page.
