Pat's Pizza menu circa 2010

Grayslake lost an institution last week after 31 years in business. Pat's Pizza was well-known for its family-friendly atmosphere and massive amount of Grayslake High School history embedded within its tables. I was practically raised on Pat's, and grew up a few blocks away from it.

The only other restaurant like it is Mundelien-based Bill's Pizza; who helped Pat start his own restaurant. Aside, I cannot think of another place that still has an arcade and lets you throw peanut shells on the floor. Pat's sign currently reads the phone number for Bill's, who had since built a second restaurant about a mile east on Washington Street.

With the explosion of new restaurants in the last decade, Pat's was hit hard, and I think the death blow came in the last few years when a pizza joint with a bar opened up in downtown Grayslake. The building (which I need to photograph stat) is now bank-owned... and I'm willing to bet it, and the closed bait shop next door's days are both numbered.
