Dalton Apartments

For once, a happy ending for a former-eyesore in Gary.

 

After initially closing in 1991 and encountering decades of deadbeat developers (original completion date was to be 1999), the old Standard Liquors building has been rechristened the Dalton Apartments, and is finally accepting leases. Quite a turnaround from when I first saw it in December 2009, when it was still derelict and grimey. The pressure-wash the building received several months ago seriously helped.
