Fong's Kitchen - 9/2011

A psuedo-landmark of Genesee is the vertical Restaurant sign on the corner of Madison.

 

Originally installed in 1967 when the building was the Lakeview Restaurant, the 1,000-pound sign was removed a little over a week following this photo. It's expected to be re-installed on October 14th, and given a ceremonial re-lighting the following evening; completing a nearly $10,000 restoration, as part of radio host Delilah's "Paint the Town" event.
