Only visible part of the interior from the sidewalk, I'm assuming it was originally retail. Much of the ground level seems to have been gutted in the wake of pressure on the building's ex-owners from Waukegan City Hall.
Vacant since 1984 (apparently the result of a fire), the Karcher Hotel is on the National Register of Historic Places.
