Ribbon of Light

Mystery solved as to where the dozens of lightbulbs on the floor came from.

 

The Palace was built as an "atmospheric" theatre, its ceiling was designed to give the illusion of a night sky, and more than likely was lit up by these lightbulbs that were once-concealed behind decorative trim.

 

I took a few bulbs home and got one to light for a few seconds, but before I could blink it burned out. They are rated at 20W... maybe I'm giving them too much juice?
