Genesis Towers
The Hotel Gary was built in 1926 and designed by Charles Nicol; it was Gary's liveliest hotel at its prime until the city went into decline in the mid 20th century, closing as a hotel in 1971. It was renovated later in the decade, and re-opened as senior housing; assuming the "Genesis Towers" name sometime afterward (likely in connection with construction of the Genesis Convention Center a block away).
Behind it is City Methodist. To the left are vacant storefronts that have had plywood facades installed circa 2002 to "dress the buildings up". The obnoxiously-large parking lot came in the wake of the numerous buildings destroyed in the 1997 arson.
