Stairwell of Farewells

Firebrick probably surrounded this stairwell; only a thin metal door frame and wooden door have survived 30 or so years of nature's wrath.

 

Lighting effect was achieved by using a Coleman lantern placed behind a brick pillar. I managed to wear out its batteries on this trip.

 

Something about this shot reminds me of the movie Alien.
