It only took Five Years

My cloned Estes Scrambler: 2 finally has a decent paint job after five years of looking like the parts-bin clone it is.

Sanded down the entire rocket to a bare body tube and wood. Red Devil spackle on the body tube and balsa fins, sanded down to eliminate wood grain and tube spiral. NO primer whatsoever. Three coats of ACE gloss yellow with another three coats of Krylon flat black for the egg crate and two fins.

The ridiculously hard to find decals were recreated by the good folks at Excelsior Rocketry. Final finishing was done with four coats of ACE rattle-can clearcoat for a smooth and shiny finish.

This is most likely my best finish for any model rocket, this pic does no justice. I'm now actually afraid to fly it because I know I will lose it.
