Fat-Cat construction
With my Fiero's transmission ready to go any day now, I'm too broke to buy a new kit, so I built this one from scratch. Literally designed this 4FNC rocket on a piece of packing paper on a slow day at work. 4 days later it's nearly finished.
The nose cone and body tube are salvaged from my old Estes Phoenix which was built in 2003 and was my first "big" rocket. It was scrapped for another scratch-build around 2005. The body tube still has some minor defects from its days as the Phoenix.
The Phoenix's old motor mount became the SkyScreamer, and because I could not find a motor mount at the store I had to order one. Once that goes in, this bird should be done and ready to go on anything from a C11-5 to an E9-6.
I have left the fins flat so that a booster can eventually be added to make this a 2-stager.
Paint scheme inspired by an old F-16 toy fighter jet I had as a kid. I wanted this rocket to be easily visible on the ground and in the air. Spent the last two days working on the finish. Unfortunately when I went to clearcoat the decal it did not get along with the white paint so it's kind of cracked on the side not pictured, debating keeping it as-is or just painting that side of the fin black.
The "FAT-CAT" lettering was my first attempt at stenciling, and it actually came out pretty decent. The Felix carrying a bomb decal is from the logo of a Naval squadron.
