Rockets

For a good half of the last decade the "other hobby" was rocketry. It is a bit of a phase started in 2001, came back in 2003 until 2007, and now I'm bringing them back again. I think I had about 50 active at one point.

Recently I was cleaning out my closet and came across my Mercury Redstone with its escape tower still broken after at least 4 years. So I decided to fix it up. Then I found new decals, so I ended up doing a complete rehab on the rocket, stripping it down to the bare body tube and repainting, and now it looks great!

I decided to unbox the rest of the rockets and fix up the ones that still needed it, and I actually bought/built a new one for the first time in 3 years. There are still some boxed up, but I don't plan on bringing them out.

I used to launch these at the middle school's soccer field, however I am looking to launch at the Lake County Fairgrounds, a site at least six times the size of the soccer fields.

Currently building another scratch-build called the Fat-Cat, and planning on building a 54" tall TLP AMRAAM AIM-120.
