1971 Lakehurst Mall JCPenney Label

Pulling out Christmas decorations and I stumbled upon a space heater box ordered from JCPenney. On the top was this 1970s label, complete with their old funky "Penneys" logo.

 

The label was barely hanging on and had split in half down a pre-cut seam. A few days sandwiched between some VHS tapes, and bit of packing tape on the back and it's somewhat good as new.

 

Lakehurst Mall's Penneys opened in 1971, making this an extremely rare label because in that same year, the company changed its logo to the current "JCPenney" branding. The store closed in 1997, and the mall was demolished in 2004.
