A Piece of Fiero History
The car on the left is the PPG Pace Car; which is actually built from Indy Pace Car #3, a backup car for the car that paced the 1984 Indianapolis 500.
After Indy it went to CART for use in the PPG demonstration program where it ended up with a new paint scheme and a widebody kit.
Afterward it was donated to the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, IL; where it sat on display for 20 years, and actually started only a few days prior to this event.
After the show had ended, Fred (the owner) gave a few people some rides (Paul, the president of the Fiero club, actually drove it) around the parking lot. I was filming the car with my camcorder and got offered a ride.
This car has a 2.7L Super Duty 4-cylinder motor capable of putting out 232 horsepower, and IT FLIES.
