The Amoco torch burns again!
In a surprising move, the Wauconda BP fixed the Amoco sign that stands near the ramp from NB Route 12 to 176. The side facing the road blew out in a storm a few years ago (you may recall that I found the broken remains in the woods, next to it ); they recently took the oval from the other side , moved it to the front, and installed a blank white cap in the back. I thought for sure they would just take it down, completely - Amoco has not existed as a company in over a decade and these once-dominant roadside icons are now incredibly rare to find.
