riesling
My submission for week 49 of the 2014 photochallenge. The theme for the week is composition – experiment.
Strobist: LP160 in Lumopro SBII, 1/16 power, camera left, triggered by pw.
A v good bottle of 2012 Peter Lehmann Riesling Dry Portrait Eden Valley.
Tasting note: Pale straw color, green gold highlights, medium minus viscosity. Nose of pear, lychee, jasmine; initially a little petrol, though that blew off pretty quickly. On the palate pear, granny smith apple, beautifully searing acidity; dry dry dry, even at 11% alc, streak of lovely slate minerality. Doesn't walk the sweet/acid knife edge in the way of Mosel Rieslings, but just as thrilling from the dry mineral texture and acid. Distinctive, interesting, acid would pair perfectly with Asian foods where you have a bit of sweetness or heat (I served it with garlic/ginger potstickers -- bang on match). Outstanding QPR.
