Sunset melody
I found another photo in the "May & Sax" series, taken on a wonderful evening 5 years ago in a hill-top field near Gourvillette as the sun was dropping below the horizon. May was visiting and had an intense schedule of practicing for her final classical music exams. Rather than disturb the (very quiet) village we went out into the open countryside and I took a series of photos as she played.
This was almost the last one and I didn't print it before as the flare looked too bad* but now I feel it nicely picks up the mood of the moment even though the technical quality is limited. I took a couple more but it was it was rapidly getting too dark – and the mosquitos were waking up!
*This was the lens that I accidentally dropped in a stream during an earlier photo project – it filled with water but after a week drying out on the Aga it worked fine, including the autofocus. Unfortunately the contrast was never quite the same and it definitely shows when shooting into the sun.
