Da minha janela faço fotos
Esta é a famosa Igreja da Penha, um dos poucos cartões postais que a Zona Norte do Rio de Janeiro possui ou que chegam ao conhecimento do grande publico. Ela fica no meu bairro, há mais ou menos 1km do meu apartamento. Esta foto foi tirada da minha janela e eu tenho o prazer de dormir e de acordar com este quadro na minha janela, agora mesmo é só me virar e olhar ao contrário da tela do computador e lá está ela.
Ela fica no topo de uma "montanha" que na verdade é uma rocha única bem alta e fica bem na direção do Aeroporto Internacional Tom Jobim, de modo que é avistada tanto do alto quanto de dentro do avião em terra. O morro onde fica a igreja é rodeado por favelas, as mesmas que foram pacificadas em 2010 e tiveram o exército lá até há cerca de dois meses atrás. Fica no entorno da igreja, a "famosa" Vila Cruzeiro do craque ou ex-craque e ex-Seleção Brasileira Adriano e também favela onde o Jornalista da Rede Globo Tim Lopes foi sequestrado e assassinado em 2002. Está tudo muito calmo lá agora e por conseguinte em todo o bairro, a Polícia Militar do Rio de Janeiro substituiu o Exército na ocupação do morro e agora está lá em caráter permanente. Visitas ao santuário da Penha é perfeitamente seguro agora e sem riscos. Convém no entanto subir até a base de táxi. Da base até o topo da igreja sobe-se a pé pelos 365 degraus (incrível. são bem baixinhos e tranquilos pra se subir. Não cansa) ou de bondinho (plano inclinado). Lá em cima é bem seguro. É um paraíso fotográfico. Dá pra fotografar quase toda a Zona Norte do Rio e a igreja por dentro chega a ser emocionante. Para descer, basta fazer o inverso da subida e chamar um táxi. A estação do metrô de Vicente de Carvalho fica cerca de 3 km da igreja. Bom mesmo é vsitá-la em outubro, que é o mês da padroeira e a igreja fica em festa, assim como o bairro todo. vai muita gente, aí fica muito mais tranquilo pra fazer todo o percurso a pé sem precisar de táxi, só é cansativo, mas muita gente sobe de joelhos desde a base até à igreja. Tem fé pra tudo!
This is the famous Igreja da Penha, one of the few post card-like views that the North Zone of Rio de Janeiro has or at least that is known. It is in my neighborhood, about 1km from my apartment. This photo was taken from my window and I have the pleasure of going to bed and waking up with this sight framing my window. Right now, all I have to do is to turn around and look, and there it is on top of a "mountain" which is actually a single giant rock, just southward from Tom Jobim International Airport. The church is viewed from planes landing and taking off. The hill where the church is located on is surrounded by slums. They were pacified in 2010 and the army was there until about two months ago.The "notorious" Vila Cruzeiro, birthplace of the famous and former Brazilian national team soccer star Adriano is in the vicinity of the church. It’s also the slum where the major Brazilian Tv Network, Rede Globo’s journalist Tim Lopes was kidnapped and murdered in 2002. Everything is very quiet there now. The Military Police of Rio de Janeiro replaced the Army in the occupation of the hill and now the whole area is permanently occupied by the Rio State’s Police squad.
Visiting the church is now perfectly safe and riskless. Visitors ought to reach the base of the church by cabs. Then you should walk up the 365-step stairway (you won’t get tired for the steps are easy to walk on). There is a small cable car to take visitors up and down. Upstairs is very safe. It is a photographic paradise. The whole North Zone of Rio will be under the reach of your lens. The interior of the church is thrilling. When leaving the church, simply do the opposite you did to go up. The Vicente de Carvalho subway station is about 3 kilometers from the church. The best time to visit the church is in October, when they celebrate the patron saint’s month. Hundreds of people visit the church, so you won’t even need a cab to reach the base, but it’s tiresome for your feet, although many people walk on their knees to get up there. Faith moves mountains – and people!
