'69 Camaro ZL1
Those of you who pay far too much more attention than I deserve may remember that I missed a post a few weeks ago. I had been working on an early Camaro build and at the 11th hour decided it wasn’t good enough.
Back to the drawing board then… The inspiration that got me back on track was a read-through of the official LEGO instructions for their Dodge Challenger - so many nice techniques, especially the rear pillars.
I set myself the challenge to build a Camaro 8-wide and to make it as strong as possible, whilst still as true to life as my previous work. With the exception of the roof and windscreen, this thing is bomb-proof and I really enjoyed using and adapting some of @lego ‘s techniques. It could easily be modified with a more solidly mounted studs-up windscreen, but I really do prefer the smoother transition of my solution.
The ZL1 was probably the ultimate Camaro, with a conservative 430hp (more like 500 in reality) as well as upgraded suspension and brakes. I love how understated the ZL1 looks on its body-coloured steel wheels with hubcaps, quite the q-car.
All designs and builds are my own, website link in bio. Follow me on Instagram and my website
