Red Chilli - 30 June 2014

This is, depending on your point of view, a good news story or bad news. The decline of the public house is, perhaps, inevitable but it is always sad to see a property remain neglected especially in a faded town such as Havant. I photographed The Perseverance in North Street in its last days as a pub and after its closure but now it has reopened as a Bangladeshi restaurant. It is pleasing and charming that the facade and detailing have been preserved. The Brickwoods pubs in Portsmouth and the surrounding area are quite distinctive and of some architectural and historic merit.

I am quite excited to post this photograph today as, through perseverance (no pun intended), I continue to tell stories by linking elements of my photostream.
