Album.Page28.06

From Lillian Vanac Tierney Notes (my Mom - the little girl 2nd from the left in the photo):

Monticello, NY

Mary - Joseph Vanac, Mary Klecka Gregory, John Klecka, Uncle and Great Uncle to Richie, Lillian, Edith Benes (believed another cousin but need to research the connection), Florence Gregory.

Written on paper to fit in photo album, I am confused by the structure and punctuation - I need to go over this with my mother. I think Mary Klecka Gregory here is John Klecka's niece?

I found the family in the 1930 census in NY, Sullivan County:

Parents: William and Mary Gregory (Mary is born in NY.)

Children: William Jr, George, Edward, Florence, Richard

Also with them: Mother-in-law: Frances Klecka (Arrived, 1887, born abt 1865, married abt 1889.)

So thinking Frances was married to John Klecka's brother Frank? I previously found a 1900 US census record in NY for a Frantisek & Fanny Klecka with a brother John who is a tailor that seems to match. Guess I need to write it all up to see if I am on the right track.

UPDATE 24 Feb 2012: After finding some obituaries first mentioning "Mary Klecka Gregory" and then other parts of the family that match the family names on the 1930 census I am quite positive I was on the right track. That led me to other censuses and other obits, newspapers and marriage records online - Once I get all of them facts straight I will try to reach out to some likely cousins and see if anyone would like to see these old family photos...

Also, I found the "Benes" family are from a remarriage and actually appear to be children of Bernard Klecka (died 1924), who in turn was son of Frank Klecka.

If any distant cousins find this on their own, I can be reached via my blog.
