Lance-leaf Coreopsis
This is another flower I found growing where the city had removed some brush from next to the trail last year. I guessed it was a domestic variety that had escaped, but looking at the Kansas wildflower guide it could be a lance-leaf coreopsis, a native prairie wildflower. I later went back to examine the leaves of the plant and they do have the characteristic lance shape of this species.
