Duckling Sunset

This shot was kind of a mixed luck accident. It had been completely overcast all day and looked suspiciously like it might rain, so when I went for a walk at the park I left my camera in the van. Wouldn't you know, I spotted a hawk on the ground near the highway at the far end of the park. It acted like it was injured though I didn't see any sign of an injury. I've had a terrible time getting shots of hawks in the wild, so I rushed back to the parking lot to get the camera. Naturally, by the time I got back the hawk was gone, so I missed my hawk opportunity. Now that I think of it, the hawk may have just been finishing off its dinner. Anyway, when I finished my walk I noticed there was a lighter band on the western horizon, so I sat down and waited to see if the sunset would show up, and indeed it did. And while I was shooting the sunset, happily Mr. and Mrs. Mallard swam in front of me with their ducklings while another duck landed in the distance....
