No Cycling and Dogs on Lead Signs, near Lower Pen Pond, Richmond Park

"Cycling outside designated routes is subject to a minimum £50 fine" - but the much smaller sign simply thanks dog-walkers for not letting their dogs off the leash near vulnerable wildlife. No mention of any penalties for infractions.

And yet... hardly anyone cycles on non-designated paths in the park but, sadly, many (most?) Richmond Park dog-walkers do little to stop their dogs roaming everywhere off the lead. One can witness dogs bothering wildlife every time one visits the park. Only a minute or so before taking this photo I saw a loose labrador bothering swans and their cygnets at Upper Pen Pond.

A reflection on the licence granted to dog-owners in Britain compared to cyclists?
