Sandersville RR 1400 - Deepstep Job, near Sandersville, Georgia_
Midway between Sandersville and Deepstep is a large kaolin mine and processing plant operated by Thiele Kaolin Company. The Sandersville Railroad serves the facility with a seven mile long branch that passes through some neat pine tree covered countryside. The line also has a few blocks of street running in Sandersville.
Here the crew is passing a Baptist church on their way back with loaded cars for the NS interchange at Tennile - just a few miles from their yard at Sandersville. The lead unit is an SW1500 that was built for the Illinois Terminal RR in 1970 and numbered 1513. I happened into it on an IT train in 1981:
