RJC 8572 South symbol RF1, north of Chalybeate Springs, North Carolina_

In December 2022, RJ Corman purchased a 43-mile branch and leased a 20-mile branch from Norfolk Southern. These lines connect the railroad company's namesake Raleigh and Fayetteville in North Carolina.

After making a turn to Raleigh from their base at Fuquay-Varina, the RF1 crew heads down the Fayetteville Branch at serve a large lumber transload at Chalybeate Springs. An afternoon crew will take over there and make an evening turn to the CSX interchange at Fayetteville. A former LMX B39-8 leads a pair of GP38s. This is former-original Norfolk Southern Railway track.
