Adiantum capillus-veneris—Southern maidenhair. Distributed across the southern part of the United States from California all the way to the East Coast then south through Mexico and the West Indies to Venezuela and Peru. There are disjunct populations at hot springs in British Columbia and the Black Hills of South Dakota. The species is also found in Hawaii as well as southern Eurasia, Africa, and Australasia. In other words, this fern has a subcosmopolitan distribution. A. capillus-veneris makes a good house plant.
