I think that we humans are on this earth for a purpose. That purpose is to help the less fortunate. Humans have the intelligence and ability to make life easier for others. When it comes to animals, I have a soft spot in my heart. They need our help and if/when you decide to get a pet, consider a shelter pet. They need your love and kindness. When we got Shizandra she was in a bad way. She was living in an animal shelter in Gallup, NM. She was recovering from Mange due to neglect by her previous owners. It was a struggle at first but we stuck with her and now she's in perfect health and a very important part of our family. We feel wonderful that we helped her and were able to give her a good home and a happy life.
