김치 setup shot
I wanted to capture the beauty of kimchi . Just clean and simple nothing more. You can just have this with a bowl of rice and be set. Nothing beats well made kimchi and @monathism has some serious skills when making this Korean staple.
In order to achieve a clean and simple look I plated the kimchi on one of our larger plates and placed my daughters chopsticks at an angle. (The adult chopsticks aren't as pretty)
To light the shot I first started with a 430EX towards the rear right to give it some kick. But I didn't point it directly at the kimchi, I actually pointed it before the plate just so I could get a little spill light.
Key light was provided by a 580EX II in a shoot through umbrella high camera left.
Strobist info:
1 580EX II (key) 1/4 power 1/4 CTO shoot through umbrella camera left
1 430EX (rim) 1/16 power 1/4 CTO snoot/grid front camera right
Completed shot can be found here.
