Olivine-Wadsleyite1
This is a photomicrograph of a thin section of an experimental sample I made at a pressure equivalent to a depth of 410km. The brightly colored phase is olivine and the gray-green mineral is wadsleyite, the first high pressure polymorph of olivine. The view is about 0.2 mm across and shows a texture of olivine with wadsleyite lamellae.
