Pole Dancing
CN 5737 leads M337 over the Fox River in South Elgin, IL, and passes between high-tension poles on either side. The former IC line in this area had some nice vantage points which were ruined by the new power poles erected along the tracks.
IC's Coleman station once stood in the foreground. It was the interchange location with the AEFR (Aurora, Elgin & Fox River Electric Co.) and the connection track ran off to the right just out of this photo. IC would hand off coal loads to be delivered to the State Mental Hospital in Elgin until the early 1970s.
The Fox River Trolley Museum now uses about 3 1/2 miles of the AEFR ROW, which runs parallel to the river just under the third car of the train.
