Returned to Fort Point today. Armed with the knowledge from the visit a week earlier, I can tell I need another Friday lunch hour there again... and possibly every Friday till the kick me out.
Interesting effect here, is the natural decay of the bricks to the left of the window. nearly 150 years of wind abuse through the window (insane wind at the Fort that's just below the Golden Gate Bridge). The bricks have started to blur together, sand blasted by an eternal draft. The steps are the same say, only pitted. Brilliant textures bring the sweet harmony of this view together.
Shooting with a much finer grain (400Tmax), and a more violent 5 second agitation every 30 seconds with Tmax developer. 7 min develop time.
The setup for this shot was my first full use of the zone system. I metered every area of the shot, and found exactly where I wanted my Zone V, and Zone VII to be. The result works very well in the shadow area of the steps, and the detail held in the mids. I think it's starting to make sense!
Only post process is a slight contrast curve in Lightbox
