Word that best describe your month: Redemption
I met Steven on my way to the health food convention and decided to talk to him because he seemed pretty intimidating and I wanted to challenge my assumptions about it. And I was totally wrong: he was really nice and supremely easygoing. Proof that you can't judge people from how they look or what they wear.
He told me his word was redemption because he realized last month that when he met with friends, he talked way too much and didn't let the others talk, which sort of turned into monologues. Since he's always looking to improve, he wanted to work on that for the whole month. He also said that usually, the more he talks, the more the conversation turns into negative territories by focusing too much on what's wrong. I told him that it might be because he's an artist and that it is necessary for artist to have a critical eye on what they do in order to improve.
He also told me that as part of this introspection, he called old friends with whom he had bad break-ups to explain what went on in his head at the time and say that he was sorry. He wanted to do that for closure and peace of mind and told me it helped him a lot.
As "my" anecdote, I saw that his phone was on the table, with a red dot on the screen. When he noticed that, he told me that he was recording the conversation and that he was also doing that lately, so I told him I had no issue with this and thought that it was cool.
Before I left, he said that he had a DJ gig tonight at an aphrodisiac restaurant called "Atame" in Montreal and that it was going to be a great night. Cool!
