Flight of the BumbleBee
Did you know that today is #worldbeeday ? I really love these furry little workers and it's frightening to think of how much trouble they are in. A third of our food supply is pollinated by bees and without them our lives on earth would be drastically impacted. Bee survival is threatened by mostly pesticides, parasites and climate change and we need to step up and help these little miracle workers!
What can we do to help? We can support healthy bees by planting local flowers native to our environments to promote pollination. We can leave our flowering weeds for the bees to use as a food source, dandelions are often the first flowers in the spring and an important resource for bees. We can buy local honey which promotes local pollination and has great health benefits to our bodies. And of course we can stop using and supporting pesticides and herbicides that contribute to colony collapse. All easy things that we can all do!
