All Figure Numbering, AFN

Found In The Science Museum, London.

All Figure Numbering (AFN) was introduced throughout the cities of London, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Glasgow and Edinburgh in 1966 which meant new telephones would have dials containing numbers only.

It was inaugurated by the Post Office as a way of prompting the use of the new number-only codes as apposed to the old letter-code phone numbers.
