Inside the San Francisco Public Library, looking up at the skylight over the main atrium. The library has reopened to readers after being closed to the public for 14 months because of the pandemic.

The library opened almost exactly 25 years ago, on April 18th, 1996, the 90th anniversary of the great San Francisco earthquake and fire. Architects are James Ingo Freed and Cathy Simon. The atrium is 5 stories high, topped by the skylight.
