NGC 3628
NGC 3628 is a spiral galaxy in the Leo constellation, around 35 million light years from earth.
Despite just being a nice looking galaxy (due to its relative proximity), NGC 3628 also has some interesting dynamics going on. The stars within this galaxy seem to orbit the galactic core in the opposite direction as (most of) the clouds of interstellar gas/dust, which is peculiar. The most likely explanation is that this galaxy is actually the result of a merger between two (or more) galaxies in a not too distant past (astronomically speaking). Depending on how said galaxies would have approached each other and merged, this is a somewhat to be expected outcome.
Setup:
Planewave CDK24
