Bust of Bacchus

Bust of Bacchus (Busto de Baco) “Created by António Teixeira Lopes (senior) in 1916. A pagan allegory, it represents the Roman god of wine (Bacchus), son of Júpiter and Semele. The monument comprises a high pedestal of granite in the shape of a quadrangular frustum of pyramid, with chamfered corners. At the top, interwoven grape bunches hang over the corners. On the pedestal, stands the bronze, smiling image of Bacchus wearing a fruit crown.” source: visitporto.travel/Visitar/Paginas/Viagem/DetalhesPOI.aspx...
