Contraption: This contraption is the dangerous end of my Grandmother’s tin opener, she was married in 1920 I don’t know when she got it; it’s not easy opening a tin with it, you push that deadly looking spike into the centre of the tin, you have to give it a right thump, and bend it down flat onto the tin lid then move the U shaped point to the edge of the tin, it opened tins of all sizes, and press that in the tin against the edge, then move it up and down and round, to open the tin, we tried it and it’s not easy!
