Norway Maple Acer plantanoides

Norway maple is from the mountains of northern continental Europe and is hardy and not effected by our cold winters and frosts. It was planted in towns as it tolerated our smoke and grime, gone now thankfully from a lot of our industrial places. The flowers appear before the leaves being a good source of early food for bees etc., the leaves turn yellow and brown in autumn unless it is growing in a lime soil, then the leaves stay green
