Freiburg Martinstor

Freiburg's historic center and the Schwabentor (correction: Martinstor, thanks Ben). This is one of the remaining city gates form the 13th century. Being occupied hence and forth by France and Germany, Freiburg has a lot of defensive structures, although most are now taken down for the city to grow. Interestingly, France added a large array of forts and walls around the city not to loose it again, only to having to hand over the city to the Germans shortly after due to political decisions.
