Freight Transit at the Iron Gates

There is intensive freight traffic by road and rail on the Romanian bank of the Danube. The West – East main line “Magistrala 100” București – Timișoara (533 km) is located right on the river side between Orșova and Turnu Severin, a section of 24 km. The area is called the Iron Gates because the powerful river passes an impressive and scenic canyon, see here : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_Gates

 

The picture shows the back of the train and the back of trucks. The train has a rear end banker to help pass the grades in the area.
