Deer Parts

Please don't look if you at all squeamish.

I was looking to photograph otters so headed down to Grass Point on Mull where I saw a large dog at the water's edge close to the rocks. He had his back to me and was there several minutes.

Curiosity got the better of me and I headed toward it over the wet rocks that were covered in seaweed. It probably took 5 minutes to get close and when the dog eventually noticed me, he barked then left the area.

I only had the one lens with me at the time, my 500mm f/4 lens so couldn't get too close to photograph this scene.

The big question is why did someone cut up the deer this way then deposit the remains close to the water's edge for either scavengers to take or to let the rising tide take it out to sea?
